In this case, we offer other solutions as well including the morning after pill, which is also known as "emergency contraception". It's a safe way to protect yourself against an unwanted pregnancy after you have had unprotected sex. There are two types of morning-after emergency contraceptive pills. The first is ulipristal acetate and is a prescription medication. The other is levonorgestrel and can be obtained over the counter. Depending on the type of morning-after pill you are given, you take them a maximum of either 120 hours after unprotected sex or 72 hours after. Several factors will be used to determine the type of morning-after pill you should take.
